More than 100 members of the Other Political Parties (OPP) Coalition have been welcomed to the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), after shifting allegiance to the SPLM. SPLM Secretary-General Dr. Akol Paul Kordit welcomed the new members, saying the party’s mission is to promote reconciliation despite the political affiliations. The new members, including its leaders and members from various parties under the OPP Coalition, said their decision was based on what they described as a collective reflection on the national interest and the country’s development. Poth Majak Daljang, the team leader of the defectors, said their decision to join the SPLM was influenced by the party’s mission and its commitment to serving the people of South Sudan.
