Gov’t, UNMISS Discuss Cooperation Under New UNSC Mandate 2820

The Government and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, UNMISS, have discussed areas of cooperation under the newly approved United Nations Security Council Resolution 2820, as well as the current situation in the country, including preparations for the conduct of general elections by the end of this year. This follows a meeting between the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro, and El-Gassim Wane, the former Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Mali and Head of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali. The meeting focused on key issues related to the upcoming general elections and ways to strengthen cooperation between the Government and UNMISS, including the implementation of the newly approved and revised UNMISS mandate under Security Council Resolution 2820.
