resident Salva Kiir Mayardit has returned to Juba after concluding a week-long working visit to the Republic of South Africa, where he held high-level engagements with President Cyril Ramaphosa on South Sudan’s preparations for the December 2026 General Elections and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.The visit came ahead of the upcoming African Union C5 engagement, where South Sudan is expected to be a key focus of discussions. H.E. President Kiir briefed the South African leadership on progress made in preparations for the elections, the work that remains, and measures needed to ensure a peaceful, credible, transparent and inclusive electoral process.
