President Salva Kiir has returned to Juba following regional engagements in Kenya and South Africa, on South Sudan’s preparations for the December 2026 general elections, peacebuilding efforts, and regional economic cooperation. Presidential Press Secretary Ambassador Arek Ajou Deng says the engagements focused on strengthening diplomatic ties and mobilizing technical, logistical, and financial support to facilitate the country’s electoral process. Ambassador Arek says the central message from the visit is that sustained regional partnership remains critical to advancing peace, democratic governance, and economic development in South Sudan.
