His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Saturday briefed an expanded caretaker government meeting on his recent diplomatic visits to Kenya and South Africa, reaffirming the government’s commitment to holding general elections in December. The meeting brought together presidential advisors and envoys, caretaker ministers, and senior security officials to review the outcomes of the visits, strengthen coordination, and discuss preparations for the country’s political transition.President Kiir described the engagements as successful, saying his discussions with President William Ruto in Nairobi covered bilateral cooperation and South Sudan’s electoral preparations. He reported that Kenya had expressed readiness to support South Sudan as it advances towards elections.
