The government says approximately 71 people have been killed in violent clashes involving armed civilians in Rumbek of Lakes state, initial Friday morning. Preliminary reports indicate that four soldiers including a captain and three-non-commissioned officers are among the dead. According to the Caretaker Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services and government Spokesperson, Ateny Wek Ateny, says the government forces have brought the situation under control with four armed civilians being arrested and firearms recovered, urging communities to remain calm and refrain from retaliatory action as investigations continue.
