The First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ambrose Lomin Pitia, has opened a public hearing on the Midwives and Nurses Bill 2026.The hearing, organized by the Parliamentary Committee on Health with support from the United Nations Populations fund, UNFPA, pursues public views on the proposed legislation. In his opening remarks, Rt. Hon. Lomin says the bill will provide a regulatory framework for midwifery and nursing professions, as well as the regulation of drugstore operators. Lomin urges lawmakers to consider and pass the bill to strengthen health services and protect the interests of the people of South Sudan.
