The parliamentary Standing Specialized Committee on Finance has convened with the Chairperson of the Ministerial High-Level Committee on Economic Recovery, Pieng Deng Kuol, to discuss measures to reduce high charges on commodities. Kuol said the two committees have agreed to work together to address high charges and help lower commodity prices in the market. The Finance Committee Chairperson, Michael Ayuen, pledged the committee’s support for the economic recovery committee’s efforts. The Parliamentary Committee on Water Resources and Irrigation has reviewed the 2026/2027 budget of Urban Water Corporation. The corporation’s Deputy Managing Director, Simon Koak, told the committee that it plans to request government support to procure 300 water trucks to help reduce the high cost of water in Juba. Committee Chairperson Asha Abdul Salam welcomed the budget and implementation plan and pledged to engage the Ministry of Finance for increased funding
