The Caretaker Interior Minister Rizik Zakaria Hassan has reiterated reforms and professionalism within the South Sudan National Police Service as the country prepares for the December general elections. Minister Rizik made the remarks during a visit to the National Police Service headquarters in Juba on Wednesday. He inspected newly recruited police personnel currently undergoing training to provide security during and after the elections. The Minister urged police officers to uphold their constitutional mandate of protecting civilians and their property. Caretaker Information Minister Ateny Wek Ateny says the government is ready to conduct the elections, while Deputy Interior Minister David Marial Gumke urges police to reject tribalism and remain professional. Police Inspector General General Said Chawul Lom reassures the public that the police are ready to provide security during the upcoming elections.
