The National Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Clement Juma has arrived in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State on a working visit, to assess the progress of the Aweil rice scheme projects. The Minister, who was accompanied by officials from the Food and Agriculture Organization and members of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly Committee on Agriculture was received upon arrival by the State Governor, Charles Dut Akol and senior state officials. The delegation expected to tour several counties across the state to familiarize itself with ongoing agricultural interventions and challenges facing local farmers. State Minister of Information, Gabriel Deng Yel said Aweil rice scheme, a key initiative aimed at boosting domestic rice production and reducing reliance on imports. Member of the National Parliament, Anei Deng said the visit aimed at evaluating progress and identifying national areas requiring additional support.
