Finance Ministry Opens Budget Preparation Programme For Accounting Officers

The Ministry of Finance and Planning has launched a three-day programme on the preparation of the Fiscal Year 2026/2027 national budget, bringing together accounting officers from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to strengthen the budget formulation process.

Opening the discussions, Minister of Finance and Planning, Kuol Daniel Ayulo, urges representatives of MDAs to actively contribute their ideas to ensure the development of a realistic and effective national budget.

Minister Ayulo says the draft budget has already been approved by the Economic Cluster and the Council of Ministers, and will soon be presented to the Transitional National Legislative Assembly for deliberation and approval.

The programme is intended to guide spending agencies on budget allocations, expenditure ceilings, costing procedures, and the preparation and submission of their budget proposals. Participants will also receive briefings on the macroeconomic outlook, the approved resource envelope, indicative expenditure ceilings, and the budget preparation guidelines for the 2026/2027 fiscal year.
