Combating money laundering requires strong laws, effective financial institutions, public awareness and cooperation between government agencies, banks, businesses and citizens. The Caretaker Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Margret Labanya, has called for stronger financial systems to protect South Sudan’s economy from money laundering and the financing of terrorism. Dr. Labanya made the remarks during the launch of a book titled Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing, authored by Dr. Abraham Telar Nicknora, Director of Economic Intelligence at the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
