The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Joseph Ngere Päciko engages Speaker of Central Equatoria State Legislative Assembly, Taban Baya on fostering intergovernmental linkages and institutional cooperation between the national and state legislatures. Both Speakers reaffirm their commitment to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations and enhance legislative synergy between the Transitional National Legislative Assembly and the Central Equatoria State Legislative Assembly. Speaker Baya calls for capacity building for the state parliamentarians in the areas of law-making, oversight, and public representation.The meeting also agreed in principle on the establishment of a Speakers’ Forum to provide a structured platform for regular dialogue and the harmonization of legislative processes across all levels of government.Speaker Paciko further tasked the Central Equatoria State Legislative Assembly to establish a Parliamentary Service Commission to uphold the welfare, independence, and administrative efficiency of state parliamentarians.
