ICT MINISTER ATENY WEK ATENY DISCLOSES COMMUNICATION STRATEGY FOR THE 2026 POLLS FOR UNIFIED MESSAGING

<p >Embracing digital transformation, the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) has unveiled its official website to enhance access to information as the country approaches its post-independence elections at the end of the transitional period. This development follows a joint effort by the Ministry of ICT and its key parastatals to identify the best technologies to power the platform, helping to combat misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech that threaten the country’s social fabric during a period of healing and reconciliation.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="765" data-end="1095" >Speaking at the launch, the Minister of ICT and Postal Services, as well as Government Spokesperson, Ateny Wek Ateny, stated that the time has come to make SSBC more accountable to the South Sudanese people through enhanced digital service delivery grounded in immediacy and accuracy of news for informed national decision-making.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="1097" data-end="1402" >In brief, SSBC has unveiled its official website for the first time since its establishment, bringing to an end more than a decade without an online presence. Minister Ateny also urged the technical team managing the website to ensure a user-friendly design and maintain high standards of professionalism.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="1404" data-end="1561" >Additionally, he revealed that the Ministry is developing a communication strategy for the 2026 elections aimed at ensuring consistent and unified messaging.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="1563" data-end="1807" >The Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Mary Ajith, highlighted the importance of diversifying content distribution channels beyond satellite broadcasting, noting that alternative digital platforms are essential for reaching wider audiences.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="1809" data-end="2022" >The Commissioner of Access to Information, Moyiga Nduru Korokoto, underscored the importance of maintaining high professional standards, emphasizing that the website reflects the image of South Sudan to the world.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="2024" data-end="2272" >The Managing Director of SSBC, John Madol Panther, reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to professionalism, stating that its operations are guided by the Broadcasting Corporation Bill of 2013, which sets standards for quality and accountability.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="2274" data-end="2520" >Representing the National Communication Authority, Dr. Labanja Mathya emphasized that enhancing visibility and credibility is key, adding that SSBC must position itself as a competitive and trusted media brand both nationally and internationally.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="2522" data-end="2777" >The launch of the SSBC website signals a new chapter in the corporation’s journey—strengthening its digital presence, improving access to information, and positioning South Sudan’s national broadcaster for greater engagement in the global media landscape.<o:p></o:p></p>
