<p>The SPLM leadership, chaired by President Salva Kiir, has blocked the allocation of Rumbek Secondary School’s historical land to Rumbek University of Science and Technology. This decision follows public outcry, with leaders emphasizing that the land must remain intact to support quality education and preserve the school’s legacy.</p><p>The government has indicated that it will instead mobilize resources to construct university facilities on land allocated by the Rumbek community.</p><p>During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening and stabilizing the ruling Sudan People's Liberation Movement’s service delivery and policy-making capacity by adopting the 2026–2031 SPLM Conceptual Framework, which will be developed by the party’s think tanks. </p><p>In a media statement, SPLM Secretary-General Akol Paul Kordit says the adoption marks a strategic shift towards safeguarding the party’s founding principles and enhancing its development agenda.</p><p>The meeting also resolved to begin preparations for the timely commemoration of SPLA Day on May 16, reflecting on the party’s achievements since independence.</p>
