HEALTH AUTHORITIES CONFIRM NO EBOLA OUTBREAK IN SOUTH SUDAN

The National Ministry of Health has dismissed social media reports claiming an Ebola outbreak in South Sudan. in a statement issued in Juba on Wednesday, the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heath, Dr. Alier Nyok Deng, confirmed that there are no confirmed or suspected cases of Ebola in the country. Deng noted that the disease outbreak has been confirmed in the Ituri Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Uganda, adding that the Ministry is on high preparedness along the border areas. Meanwhile, the representative of the World Health Organization, Dr. Humphery Kaamomagi, said the WHO is working closely with the government and partners to strengthen preparedness measures.
