PRESIDENT KIIR PAYS TRIBUTE TO LATE FORMER CHIEF JUSTICE AMBROSE RIINY THIIK

We begin our News for tonight with sombre News, as President Salva Kiir joins mourners during the requiem mass for the late former Chief Justice Ambrose Riiny Thiik, at St. Theresa's Cathedral in Juba, paying tribute to the first country’s chief Justice, who passed away last week in Nairobi, Kenya.

The deceased will be laid to rest on Friday, in his hometown in Warrap State. President Kiir’s presence reflected the nation’s solidarity with the respected elder statesman, who was heavily involved in shaping the judiciary from the pre-independence era through the early years of the nation. His death has been described by many including his colleagues a great loss for the country as contributed to the liberation struggle of the independence and the building of state institutions from 1988 to 2004.
