<p >The remains of the late Justice Ambrose Riiny Thiik has arrived in Juba from Nairobi, Kenya, on Monday, where senior government officials, family members, and members of the legal fraternity gathered at Juba International Airport to pay their final respects. Vice-President Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, alongside judges, lawyers, and relatives of the deceased, joined mourners, honouring a man widely regarded as one of the pillars of South Sudan’s judiciary. Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Michael Makuei Lueth described the late Justice Ambrose as an icon, liberator, and distinguished legal figure who dedicated his life to justice and the rule of law.<o:p></o:p></p><p >Makuei praised him as the first Chief Justice of the then New Sudan, saying his contribution during the liberation struggle laid a strong foundation for the country’s judicial system.<o:p></o:p></p><p> </p><p >Justice Ambrose Riiny Thiik passed away on 3rd May 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya, after a short illness.<o:p></o:p></p>
