<p ><strong>In </strong>Parliament, where legislators convened to deliberate on amendments to provisions of the Revitalized Peace Agreement presented by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Michael Makuei Lueth.<o:p></o:p></p><p >The proposed amendments, which were passed by the Council of Ministers, include delinking the permanent constitution-making process and the conduct of the national population census from the elections, in order to enable the people of South Sudan to exercise their democratic right to elect leaders and a government of their choice.<o:p></o:p></p><p> </p><p >Parliament, chaired by Rt. Hon. Speaker Joseph Ngere Paciko, referred the amendments to the Committee on Legislation and Justice for further study and directed the committee to prepare and present a report to the August House within 14 days.<o:p></o:p></p>
