The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Working Committee, the party’s highest leadership organ, convened a high-level meeting chaired by His Excellency Comrade Salva Kiir Mayardit to deliberate on the party’s political trajectory and institutional priorities. ?During the session, SPLM Secretary General Cde. Dr. Akol Paul Kordit provided a comprehensive briefing on the party’s preparations for the upcoming national elections. He detailed the ongoing development of the new SPLM Manifesto and the associated political program designed to meet the aspirations of the people of South Sudan. ?A central outcome of the meeting was the leadership’s formal endorsement of the SPLM Policy Framework 2026–2031. This five-year strategic roadmap, currently being finalized by the SPLM Institute for Strategic Studies, serves as the party’s primary think-tank initiative to guide national governance and development. ?The leadership also announced the official commemoration of the SPLM’s 43rd Anniversary, scheduled for May 16, 2026. The event will be held at the Dr. John Garang Mausoleum in Juba. Dr. Kordit issued a call to all party members and supporters across the capital to mobilize and attend the anniversary celebrations in large numbers to honor the party’s historical journey. ?In a significant move to preserve the nation's revolutionary history, the Working Committee resolved to cancel the previous directive that proposed donating Rumbek Senior Secondary School to the University of Rumbek. The leadership emphasized that the school remains a vital historical landmark and a sanctuary for the children of martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the liberation struggle. ?To facilitate the university's growth without compromising this heritage, the Ministry of Higher Education has been directed to raise the necessary funds to develop a new campus on land recently allocated by the Rumbek community. The SPLM leadership affirmed that Rumbek Senior Secondary School shall remain an independent secondary institution and must not be tampered with.
