President Kiir Announces Dissolution Of Transitional Gov’t To Pave December Polls

The political transitions have  been brought to an end today, as President Salva Kiir announces the dissolution of the Transitional Government of National Unity to pave way for the December 2026 general elections. The head of state made the announcement during an expanded meeting of the presidency attended by vice presidents, political party leaders, and senior government officials. The move follows the signing into law of amendments to the National Elections Act, clearing key legal provisions for the polls.
