The government has officially handed over a newly established Public Health Emergency Operations Center to the National Public Health Institute in a ceremony held in Juba on Friday.

The National Minister of Health, Dr. Luk Thompson, and the Director General of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Jean Kaseya, witnessed the handover.

Vice President for the Service Cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi Akol; Cabinet Affairs Minister, Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro; and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Akuei Bona Malual, also held discussions with the Africa CDC leadership on strengthening areas of cooperation between the government and the continental health body.
