The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. ames Pitia Morgan, participates in the 74th Extraordinary Session of the IGAD Council of Ministers in Djibouti. The session reviews key regional developments and challenges affecting the IGAD region, with discussions focusing on regional peace and security, the evolving situation in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandab, and developments in South Sudan, Sudan, and Somalia. The ministers also pay a courtesy visit to the President of the Republic of Djibouti, where they discuss regional issues and the importance of strengthening cooperation and efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. The session also considers the financial and institutional situation of IGAD, with emphasis on strengthening the organization’s institutional capacity, financial sustainability, and operational effectiveness to better respond to emerging regional challenges.
