The meeting brought together ministers of energy and electricity, along with representatives from member states, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation and the development of a regional electricity market.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="573" data-end="784" >The Minister of Energy and Dams, Agok Makur Kur, affirmed South Sudan’s commitment to supporting electricity interconnection projects and developing the power sector in a way that contributes to economic growth.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="786" data-end="1134" >The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, who currently serves as President of the Ministerial Council, welcomed participants and stressed the importance of strengthening electricity integration among regional countries and sustaining joint efforts in implementing energy and electricity infrastructure projects.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="1136" data-end="1426" >The meeting concluded with the election of a representative from the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to chair the next session of the Ministerial Council of the East Africa Power Pool. It also saw the adoption of the final communiqué of the 21st meeting of the Council of Ministers.<o:p></o:p></p><p data-start="1428" data-end="1661" >The communiqué reaffirmed member states’ commitment to strengthening technical cooperation, advancing electricity interconnection and renewable energy projects, and supporting efforts toward regional integration in the energy sector.<o:p></o:p></p>
