The Ministerial High-Level Committee on Economic Reform, chaired by the Minister of East African Community Affairs, General Pieng Deng Kuol, has listened to a briefing from the security sector regarding the support to the committee’s functions. Security briefings focused on the enforcement of orders issued by the committee ensuring that illegal collection of fees from truck drivers and local traders are prohibited on measure roads where goods are transported freely to reach citizens all over the country.

The meeting also listened to a briefing concerning the planned visit to Nimule to find out whether its recent directives on tax compliance and banning of illegal checkpoints are being implemented after it engaged in talks with relevant authorities at the border town.
