High-Level Forum Signals Growing African Support for South Sudan’s Elections

The Government has stepped up regional engagement ahead of the December 2026 elections, as a high-level Pan-African forum in Juba brought together diplomats and partners to align support for the electoral process.

Convened by Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programs, Adut Kiir, gathered representatives from the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the African Union at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

Discussions focused on progress in implementing the revitalized peace agreement, electoral preparedness, and security arrangements. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to supporting peaceful, credible, and transparent elections.

The forum underscores growing African backing for South Sudan’s democratic transition and highlights the country’s role in advancing African-led solutions and regional cooperation.
