Economic Reform Committee Pushes For Reduction Of Electricity Tariff

<p >The Ministerial High-Level Committee on Economic led by Minister of East African Community Affairs, General Pieng Deng Kuol, has convened with energy authorities  to push for reduction in high electricity tariffs in Juba, in line with the presidential order. The Rapporteur of the committee, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister, James Mawich Makuach, says the discussions with energy officials centered on exemptions of the heavy fuel oil belonging to the EZRA power plant, directing technical team to work on the modality and report back to the Ministerial High-Level Committee on Economic with comprehensive findings in a due time. <o:p></o:p></p><p >Mawich says the customs officials at the border of town of Nimule have been directed to release heavy fuel oil trucks belonging to the EZRA power plant to ensure Juba Power plant’s operation remains uninterrupted. <o:p></o:p></p><p >  <o:p></o:p></p><p> </p><p >Officials including Energy and Dams Minister, Agok Makur Kur and his Undersecretary, as well as JEDCO and EZRA representatives attended the meeting after being invited by the Ministerial High-Level Committee on Economic Reform. <o:p></o:p></p>
