The Transitional National Legislative Assembly has summoned the Governor of Warrap State, along with the Ministers of Interior and Defense, to respond to concerns over escalating insecurity and communal violence in the Tonj counties. The decision is being reached during Parliament’s sitting chaired by the First Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ambrose Lomin Pitia, following an urgent motion presented by Hon. Kornelio Mawien on the worsening security situation in the Tonj region, Warrap State. Hon. Kornelio says persistent communal violence, the proliferation of firearms among civilians, and breakdown of law and order have resulted in loss of lives, destruction of livelihoods, and displacement of families. Parliament spokesperson Hon. Oliver Mori Benjamin says the summoned officials will appear before the House to respond to questions from lawmakers on the security situation, announcing that Parliament is expected to table the national budget for deliberation next week, alongside discussions on amendments to the Transitional Constitution of 2011.
