Economic Cluster Approves Key Tax Bills To Boost Non-Oil Revenue

The Economic Cluster has approved three key draft tax bills that include Value Added Tax (VAT) Bill, Tax Appeals Bill, and Tax Procedures Bill aimed at strengthening domestic revenue mobilization and improving South Sudan’s fiscal stability. Briefing the media, the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Michael Chiengjiek, says the Minister of Justice has been directed to finalize the legal processes before submitting the bills to the Council of Ministers. The meeting also discussed measures to stabilize the market, including improving access to foreign currency and supporting businesses through Letters of Credit. The Cluster further endorses the country’s first National Trade Strategy and receives updates on South Sudan’s participation in regional trade and food security initiatives.

The cluster says decisions are part of broader economic reforms aimed at increasing non-oil revenue, promoting trade and investment, and supporting sustainable economic growth.
