President Kiir Says Polls Are Crucial In Ending Transitional Era

the SPLM Chairman and President Salva Kiir, calling on the SPLM to unite, reject violence, and prepare for South Sudan's December 2026 general elections, describing the vote as a crucial step toward ending the country's prolonged transitional period. Speaking during the opening of the SPLM Leadership Retreat in Juba, Kiir said the party must modernise its structures, strengthen internal discipline, and align its policies with the aspirations of the South Sudanese people.
