TNLA Business Committee Strategizes Ahead Of Parliamentary Undertakings

The Parliamentary business committee(ABC) chaired by Speaker Joseph Ngere Paciko discusses stronger mechanisms for organizing upcoming Parliamentary undertakings as Members reviewed work plans and set the agenda needed to prioritize issues on the Assembly’s table. During the discussion, several committee chairpersons presented the challenges and problems hindering their oversight and legislative duties. The Acting Chairperson of the General Education Committee revealed a number of obstacles facing the committee’s field work, calling on Parliament to intervene urgently to find solutions. For his part, Speaker Joseph Paciko has affirmed that Parliament holds absolute authority under the law to summon any entity to appear before the Assembly, stressing that the goal is to address crises and resolve issues affecting citizens’ lives. Parliament reaffirms its commitment to follow up on the implementation of the session’s outcomes, amid urgent demands from specialized committees — chief among them the General Education Committee — to resolve the challenges obstructing their oversight work.
