GOVT, TELECOMM COMPANIES DISCUSS IMPLEMENTATION OF TAX PAYMENT POLICY IN CASH

Government and Country’s Mobile Network Operators including Zain and MTN have discussed means of strengthening cooperation. Caretaker Minister of Finance and Planning, Athian Ding Athian, has convened with the representatives of the two Telecomm companies operating in South Sudan. Discussions focused on implementation of cash policy in tax payment as directed by the Ministerial High-Level Committee on Economic Reform in July this year. During the meeting, representatives of Mobile Network Operators stressed their commitment to relinquish electronic payment and abide by the cash payment policy to settle all their tax arrears owed to the government. Officials, including the Bank of South Sudan’s Governor, Dr. Addis Ababa Othow, First Undersecretary for Finance, Malual Tap Dieu, alongside Commissioner General of the South Sudan Revenue Authority, Rizig Dominic attended meeting.
