Legislators Unanimously Pass National Elections Act, 2012 (Amendment) Bill, 2026

At parliament Chaired by Rt. Hon Speaker Joseph Ngere Paciko, where the legislators have unanimously passed the long-awaited National Elections Act, 2012( Amendment ) Bill, 2026 in the second reading stage presented to the house by the chairperson of the parliamentary committee on legislation and legal affairs, Dengtiel Kur.The amendment bills harmonise the inconsistences and ensure its conformity with the transitional constitution of  South Sudan, 2011(as amended) and any other provision, with the composition of national legislative Assembly members goes to 332 members. In addition, the reconstituted National Election commission shall have organized the election for the President, national and state assemblies, state Governors, chief administrators and local government sixty 60 days prior to the end of the Transitional period.   Upon the announcement of the date of elections by the commission, the president shall, within three months to Election date, dissolve the national legislature, state assembly, and state government. In a media statement, the parliamentary spokesperson, Hon Oliver Mori Benjamin says the bill has been endorsed with all observations and recommendations and being proceeded to the President to assent it into law of the land.
