President Assents Constitutional Amendments Into Law

President Salva Kiir has signed Constitutional Amendment No. 13 Bill, 2026, removing key legal obstacles standing in the way of South Sudan’s planned December 22 general elections. The amendment formally separates the elections from two long-running national processes, the permanent constitution-making process and the population and housing census, clearing the way for preparations for the polls to proceed.
