Economic Reform Committee Instructs Finance Minister To Pay Salaries

The Ministerial High-Level Committee on Economic Reform meeting, chaired by the Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Ateny Wek Ateny, continues to discuss its mandate for which it was established to address challenges affecting citizens. The committee, which commenced its operations last month, is still engaging relevant authorities to gather views on essential ways to improve South Sudan’s economy, with timely payment of salaries for civil servants and organized forces continues to be one of its priorities.The committee was formed in July 2026 by President Kiir Salva Mayardit to address citizens’ concerns.   It comprises the Ministers of East African Community Affairs, who is also the Chairperson, General Pieng Deng Kuol, Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services and Deputy Chair, Ateny Wek Ateny, Public Service and Human Resources Development, Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, Water Resources and Irrigation, James Mawich Makuach, Animal Resources and Fisheries, Onyoti Adigo Nyikwac, Trade and Industry, Margret Labanya Mathya, Interior General Aleu Ayieny Aleu, and of Finance and Planning, Kuol Daniel Ayulo, as well as other officials including Commissioner General of the South Sudan Revenue Authority, Ambassador Muon Deng and Director General of the South Sudan Bureau of Statistics, Dr. Augustino Ting Mayai among others.
