Economic Reform Committee Deliberates On Fuel Prices & Implementation Of Cash Policy On Telecom Tax Payments

The Ministerial High-Level Committee on Economic Reform convened its 15th regular meeting on Monday afternoon in a session chaired by Hon. Pieng Deng Kuol at the Ministry of Finance and Planning.Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Rapporteur of the Committee, Hon. James Mawich said the meeting discussed the issue of fuel prices in market and recommended for further reduction of oil prices to stabilize the economy. He added that the Committee reviewed and analyzed a number of aspects that affects oil prices and proposed a strategy that would encourage a win-win situation for both traders, government and fuel consumers across the country.The Committee also summoned managers of Mobile Network Operators namely; Zain, MTN and Digitel to discuss the cooperation of telecom companies in implementation of cash policy in tax payment as instructed by the Committee. The Committee directed the telecom companies to pay their taxes in cash to allow government to mobilize enough revenues and pay salaries in cash and support government
