South Sudan, Pakistan Forge Media Training Pact Ahead Of Polls

<p >South Sudan and Pakistan have agreed to strengthen cooperation in media development and journalist training ahead of South Sudan’s planned December 2026 general elections. The agreement has been reached during a bilateral meeting in Geneva between South Sudan’s Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Ateny Wek Ateny, and Pakistan’s Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, on the side-lines of ongoing international engagements in Geneva.  During the meeting, Minister Ateny briefed his Pakistani counterpart on South Sudan’s preparations for the upcoming general elections scheduled for December 2026, emphasizing the government’s commitment to a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process. <o:p></o:p></p><p >Minister Ateny says the partnership reflects South Sudan’s broader efforts to build a professional media sector capable of supporting informed public participation during the electoral period.<o:p></o:p></p><p> </p><p >Officials say further technical engagements between the two countries are expected in the coming months as preparations for the elections continue.<o:p></o:p></p>
