The Minister of Energy and Dams, Agok Makur Kur, and the Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, Ma Qiang, have convened to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in the fields of renewable and clean energy. During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and the Belt and Road Initiative, in support of sustainable development efforts and the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Kur noted that the Government is placing increasing emphasis on the development of renewable energy sources, especially solar energy, highlighting the country's vast potential in this area. For his part, Ambassador Ma Qiang reaffirmed China's commitment to supporting South Sudan's development agenda and implementing the outcomes of FOCAC as well as the agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries.
